Welcome to the Sydney Latin American Film Festival eNewsletter.
Hola a todos!
The festival started on an upbeat note on Thursday March 6 at the Chauvel cinema and many wonderful films and events are still coming up...
LAN AIRLINES OPENING NIGHT FIESTA @ CHAUVEL CINEMA
Our LAN Chile opening night fiesta sold out and visiting Colombian director Juan Fischer opened the festival with the Australian premiere of his film "Looking for Miguel". The Chauvel cinema foyer came alive to people dancing to the funky Latin rhythms of Descarga; The Barrio provided lots of delicious tapas; the tequila, wine and beer were flowing thanks to our sponsors Sauza, [ Yellow Tail ] and Corona.
A big and heart-felt thank you to our generous sponsors, to the talented musicians and dancers, to all the festival volunteers who worked so hard to make the night a success and of course, the wonderful audience members who came to watch the film and party with us.
MICROCINEMA @ EASTSIDE ARTS OPENS TONIGHT!
Three International Guests will be presenting their films at the Microcinema, starting tonight with a focus on Central America with "Fruits of War" and concluding tomorrow night with a dedicated session on grassroots movements in Argentina. Tickets are $5 tickets for all sessions and there will be the opportunity to join in discussions with the film-makers and panel members. Discussions at the conclusion of the films each night feature a panel of local acedemics, social workers, jounalists , migrant group representatives and the filmmakers themsleves.
Tickets for sessions at Eastside Arts are available from the door 30 minutes prior to each session (cash only).
MID FESTIVAL FIESTA @ EASTSIDE ARTS
For the second year the talented musicians from Sydney's favorite Latin fusion band Watussi will provide entertainment at the mid-festival fiesta on Thursday 13 March at Eastside Arts, Paddington.
