Statement by the undersigned organizations on the largest protests
in Chile in the last 17 years that took place March 28-29.
To the People of Chile:
Coordination for the Peoples Protest, a space for the convergence for poltical and social organizations that fight for In Defense of the Rights of the People communicates to public opinion its satisfaction with the massive participation in the day of Peoples Protest that took place on Thursday March 29th.
In spite of the campaign of terror created by the government and the right wing, as well dissociation by the top leaders of the "Left" who are trying to insert them into the institutions, the rejection of the people of the economic model which has only generated poverty, abuse and humiliation is clearly evident.
In Santiago, as well as the lenghth of the country, health workers, maritime workers, transport workers, working families in their neighborhoods, students, particularly high school students have shown their indignation with the measures and attitude of the administrators of this failed system. The People say: "Enough"
Nothing came out of the pretense perpetuated at the University of Santiago...
The new demonstrations of social protest are one step more in the constitution of the peoples movement , with the perspective of a radical change of this society. This has been the best homage to the fighters for liberation of yesterday and today.
This strengthens the decision of this Coodinating Committee to reach higher levels of struggle and unity from the ranks of different social sectors, that will be expressed in future days of mobilization and organization.
